From newspaper obituary clipping for Mrs. Adam Tritch from the estate auction
of Dessa Mae (Sunday) Wolf 25 Nov 2000 -
MRS.
ADAM TRITCH
"Mary, daughter of Richard and Sarah Chasey Shade, was born on January
20,
1861, in a pioneer farm home near Helmer, Ind. In April of the same
year her
father joined the Union army, going as a substitute for a younger brother,
leaving his family to care for the home until his return. Many were
the
stories she liked to tell of those stirring days.
Her mother was left a widow with a large family when Mary was a girl
of
sixteen, and she has known many hardships but these hardships developed a
character of high courage and fine integrity which she retained throughout
her entire life.
In her youth she was converted and united with the Church of God.
To know
her was to admire and to love her.
She was married to Adam Tritch on October 30, 1880. To this
union were
born eight children - Mrs. Geo. Erwin, Mrs. Arthur Hoyer, Mrs. Marl Shumaker,
and the three boys, Ray, Carl and Eshu; Jessie and Edna having preceded her
in death. She is survived by her children, thirty-five grandchildren,
and
one great-grandchild, four sisters and two brothers, besides other relatives
and a host of friends.
She and her husband made their home with their oldest daughter since
November, 1933.
On July 20 she passed to her reward and was laid to rest beside her
husband, who preceded her in death but five months, he having passed away
on
February 10, 1934.
Tho she is gone, the memory of her is still with us and will remain
a
lasting treasure. She was a wonderful mother, a loyal wife, a true
friend
and a good neighbor and her departure will be greatly mourned.
