REBECCA
ELLEN SWYNEHARDT
Rebecca Ellen Swynhardt, daughter of Caleb and Salome (Martin)
Hobbs, was
born at Monroeville, Indiana, January 16, 1876, and passed away at the DeKalb
City hospital, in DeKalb, Illinois, February 6, 1957, at the age of 81 years.
In 1900 she was married to William M. Aldrich, and to this
union was born one
daughter, Bessie Augusta, who died in 1955. Mr. Aldrich passed away in 1903.
In 1905 she became the wife of George W. Swynehardt who also
preceded her in
death.
Born of this marriage were three children, namely: Reba June,
who departed
this life in 1952; Holland Forrest, who died in infancy; and Mary Betty,
with whom
she made her home at the time of her passing. She was a member of the First
Methodist chruch of DeKalb.
Surviving Mrs. Swynehardt are the daughter, Mary; one brother,
Jacob Hobbs,
of Fort Wayne; four granddaughters, Mrs. Harold (Lois) Nelson of Fremont,
Mrs. Ernest (Phyllis) Pendergrass of Los Angeles, Mrs. Harold (Joyce) Grabe
of Sturgis, Michigan, Janean Freed of Angola, and one grandson, Dee Anstett
of Pleasant Lake, seven great grandchildren, two sons-in-law, Diedrick
Anstett of Pleasant Lake and Ralph Freed of Angola and a number of other
relatives and many friends.
A brief memorial service was conducted Wednesday night at
the Wirtz Funeral
Home at DeKalb, after which the body was removed to the Weicht Funeral Home.
Services were held Saturday afternoon, February 9, at the Pleasant Lake
Evangelical United Brethren chruch of which Mrs. Swynehardt was a member
for
twenty years. Officiating were Dr. A.H. Sholty of Elkhart, former pastor,
assisted by the Rev. R.C. Walker. Burial was at the Eddy cemetery at Hamilton.
