Sophronia J. Sutton

Was born in Huron county, Ohio, July 9, 1830, and died at the home of her son in
York township, May 1, 1905, aged 74 years, 9 months and 22 days..

When a girl she came with her parents to Steuben county which place has ever since
been her home. Dec. 6, 1846, she was married to Eliphet W. Day, who departed this life
April 24, 1867. To this union were born three children, James, Louisa and Lucy.

When quite young she accepted Jesus as her Savior and has ever since lived a consistent
Christian. She leaves to mourn her loss, one son and two daughters, eight grandchildren,
and twenty great-grandchildren, three brothers and a large circle of friends. Although
our hearts are sorely wounded, we sorrow not without hope. A faithful friend has left
us, the voice we love is stilled. A place is vacant in our ranks which can never be filled.

Funeral services were held at South Scott church, May 2, conducted by Rev. Stambaugh.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: Sophronia is apparently the daughter of David H. and Lucy Sutton, who
came to Steuben Co some time in the 1830's. The family can be found in 1840 census.
