Emma
Jane Waller
Sutton
Steuben Republican
Emma Jane Waller was
born in Steuben County, Indiana January 1, 1859; died March 30, 1912,
aged 53 years, 2 months and 29 days. In 1877 she was united in
marriage with Roswell Sutton and to them were born 4 children, three
sons and one daughter- Delevan Sutton of Scott township; Robert Sutton
of Angola; Mrs. Clarence Hanselman and Orville Sutton, of Ostego
township. Besides the sorrowing husband and these children,
eleven grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers are left, together
with many relatives and friends, to mourn the loss of a devoted wife, a
loving mother , a kind sister and an obliging neighbor. To
know her was to love her, for her hands were ever active in deeds of
kindness. While with aching hearts, the bereaved ones gave her
up, they are thankful for the life she lived among them and that she
ministered unto them out of her great loving heart and until they meet
again, they will ever carry in their hearts the memory of her dear
face. She was patient through suffering and often through the
long illness, the poor tired body, tortured with pain, she would say:
"I am ready to go to my Saviour where there will be no more sorrows or
no more tears and all will be peace," and in words scarcely more than a
whisper she commended herself to His loving care with a steadfast
faith.
Funeral
services
were held at the South Scott church, Tuesday, April 2, 1912 and the
remains were laid to rest in the South Scott Cemetery.
