MOTHER OF EIGHTEEN CHILDREN PASSES AWAY -
Frances Ellen Smith was born in Waldron, Mich., on Feb 16, 1863, to Henry and Louisa Smith, and departed this life May 21, 1933, at the home of daughter, Mrs John Somerlott, at the age of 70 years, 3 month and 5 days. Her entire life from the age of 8 years was spent in the vicinity of Metz. Being left an orphan at that age, she reared in the home of her aunt, Mrs. Cyrena Burch. At an early age she united with the Christian church at Metz, where she remained a consistent member until called to her reward.
On Nov. 5 1880, she was married to D.A. Williams, also of Metz, who preceded her in death Sept., 12, 1921. To this union 18 children were born, four of whom, including a pair of twins, died in infancy. Fourteen grew to manhood and womanhood, including Bertha Somerlott of Angola, Bernice Roberts, Vere, Smith and Weir of Metz; Mac, who died in 1916; Mabel Williams and Phyllis Kannel of Montpelier, Nannie Mead of Bryan Ohio; Zanca (Zama) Walters of Deerfield, Ohio; Eva Reese of Angola, Lois Sewell of Hamilton, Norma Castner and Jack of Jackson. She leaves to Mourn her going 13 children, 31 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services at 2:00 o'clock, c.s.t., at the Christian Church at Metz with burial at the Metz cemetery, Rev. Aldrich officiating.
