ELECTA McKIBBEN

        Electa McKibben, daughter of Horace and Mary 
(Stayner) Waite, was born in LaGrange Co., Indiana, 
April 19, 1848, and passed away at the home of her son, 
at Orland, Ind., March 28, 1923, aged 74 years, 11 
months and 9 days.
        She was one of a family of fourteen children. She 
lived at the home of her parents south of Orland where 
she was born until Oct. 31, 1867, when she was united in 
marriage with James F. McKibben, who preceded her in 
death 30 years.
        After their marriage they went to Ottawa Co., 
Michigan, where they lived thirteen years. During that 
time four children were born, Albert, Ida, and Alice, 
who preceded their mother in death, and Perry W. 
McKibben, of Orland, Indiana.
        Coming back to Orland they purchased a farm one 
mile south-east of Orland where they lived until 1893 
when they moved to Angola, Indiana. It was here the same 
year that Mr. McKibben was taken away, leaving the 
mother and daughter, Alice, alone in the home. In 1899, 
Alice was taken from the home leaving the mother alone. 
In 1906 she was again united in marriage with George H. 
Bowers, of New Jersey. Since 1893 her home has been in 
Angola where she became a member of the First Christian 
church. She has lived the last few years of her life 
alone, usually spending the winters with her son, until 
ill health and nearly blind, she was forced to give up 
her home to live with her son, where she quietly fell 
asleep.
        She leaves to mourn her going besides the son, an 
aged step-mother, one half-sister, and one half-brother, 
all of Michigan. Ten grandchildren, four great 
grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends also 
were left.
        Funeral services were held at the home of her son 
at Orland, Friday March 30, and the burial was in the 
Jackson Prairie cemetery.

ADDITONAL NOTES:

Father, Horace Waite was born in Canada, 02 Apr 1814, 
and died 20 Apr 1897.
Mother, Mary J. Stayner, daughter of John and Sarah 
(Huntsman) Stayner was born 23 Mar 1818 in Richland 
County, Ohio, and died 15 May 1867. They are buried in 
Jackson Prairie Cemetery, Orland, Steuben County, 
Indiana.

        Rachael Waite, born about 1841.
        John Waite, born about 1847.
        Aaron Waite, born 18 May 1851, died 19 Jan 1922.
        Perry Waite,  born about 1857, died 1915.
