STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, 27 APR 1881, p.4, c.7, AND "24 YEARS AGO, 20 JUL 1904, p.7, c.7, 75 YEARS OF AGE BY 01 JUN 1880" JAMES LOCKWOOD, 27 Dec 1803 - 24 Apr 1881 LOCKWOOD---In Angola, Sunday, April 24, 1881, James Lockwood, aged 74 years and 4 months. Mr. Lockwood was born in Niagara county, N.Y. In 1837 he removed to this county, where he resided nearly all the time until his death. He was married to Miss Ann Barry, July 6, 1828. Five children were born to them, of whom, three have died. His wife died in Carr county, Iowa, in 1876. Early in life Mr. Lockwood united with the M. E. church, and always lived an upright and consistent christian life. The funeral took place from the Methodist church yesterday at 1 o'clock, Rev. P. Carland officiating. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: James Lockwood, 27 Dec 1803 - 24 Apr 1881, married Ann (Barry/Berry) Lockwood, born 15 Jan 1807 and died in Carr County, Iowa 21 Oct 1876. They are buried at Jordan Cemetery, Steuben County, IN. DAUGHTER: Elinor/Eleanor M. (Lockwood) Freligh, born 20 May 1833 in Ontario County, NY, died 30 Nov 1914. On 16 Dec 1856 in Steuben County, IN, she married Moses Latta Freligh, born in Ontario County, NY, on 12 May 1828; died 30 May 1908. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, IN. Moses was the son of John I. Freligh, born in Ontario County, NY, 21 Aug 1789; died 09 Oct 1869, and Mary L. (Latta) Freligh, born in New Windsor, Orange County, NY, on 08 Dec 1788; died 25 Sep 1860. They are buried at Jordan Cemetery, Steuben County, IN. DAUGHTER: Addelaide Lockwood, 24 Apr 1844 - 09 Aug 1852. (Mrs. Lewis had a note by her name in the cemetery book that Addelaide was spelled correctly) She is buried at Jordan Cemetery.
