CORNELIA A. LETTS

Cornelia A. Allen, daughter of Truman C. and Mahala A. Allen, was born in Scott township, Steuben county, Indiana, December 5, 1843. She died at Elmhurst, Illinois, October 18, 1928, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 13 days. She was the last of a family of eleven children.
Her girlhood days were spent in the rural districts of Steuben county where she attended a country school and took advantage of such educational opportunities as were then offered.
She was married to Nelson J. Letts, September 23, 1866. To this union were born two children, Leland E., who died June 4, 1904, and George L. Letts. After her marriage, Mrs. Letts and her husband moved to a farm in Scott township which then consisted of virgin forest. This they cleared and here established a home which was maintained for nearly half a century. In the spring of 1915, they moved to Angola, Indiana, where they lived until the death of Mr. Letts September 6, 1922.* Since that time Mrs. Letts has made her home with her son, George L. Letts.
At an early age, Mrs. Letts united with the Disciples of Christ church at North Scott, Indiana, and for many years was a regular attendant. However, she being a home loving woman, was not interested in many outside activities, but devoted her entire life to her home and loved ones.
Mrs. Letts is survived by her son, George L. Letts of Elmhurst, Illinois, four grandchildren: Kenton and Dale Letts of Chicago, Illinois; Louis and Mary Letts of Elmhurst, Illinois; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held in the Congregational church, Angola, Sunday afternoon, October 21, conducted by Rev. John Humphreys. The burial was in Circle Hill cemetery.

*A typographical error; Nelson died September 16, not September 6.
