STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 1904, page 1, column 6 PHOEBE (JONES) HUTCHINS, 02 Jan 1827 - 04 Feb 1904 Phoebe Jones was born January 2, 1827, in Licking county, Ohio. To this union were born four children, one son and three daughters, one daughter preceded her to the other world. In 1840 at the age of thirteen she was converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church of which she has been a faithful member. For the last six years she has been an invalid which deprived her of many of the public services of the church, but she never lost her interest in the same and showed that interest by generously contributing to the support of the church and all its benevolences. During the eight years of her widowhood she has been tenderly cared for by her children. Her home has always been a home to the homeless and in the world to come many will rise up and call her blessed. And the blessed Christ shall say, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these ye have done it unto me." The whole community mourns the death of Aunt Phoebe as she was familiarly called. On the morning of Feb. 4, 1904, at the age of 77 years. 1 month and 2 days and after 60 years of faithful service to the Master, He gently whispered, "It is enough, come up higher."
