STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 30, 1902, page 1, column 6 CHARLES G. HUGHES, 04 May 1833 - 21 Jul 1902 Charles F. Hughes was born at Selinagrove, Snyder county, Penn., May 4, 1833, and died at Flint, Indiana, July 21, 1902, aged 69 years, 2 months and 17 days. He finished his college course in 1851, and on April 18, 1852, he was united in marriage with Sarah Snyder, and to the union were born five children, all of whom preceded their father to the other world. In the year, 1859, death deprived him of his companion. In 1860 he was united in marriage with Delia Snyder, and to this union were born four children, three of whom survive him. In 1861 he moved to Elkhart where for 21 years he was foreman of Pratt's Carriage Works. In 1882 he moved with his family to Jackson Prairie, Steuben county. In 1898 death again came to his home and his wife was taken away, and since that time he has been living with his daughter, Mrs. Light, at Flint. He was a member of the Lutheran church, and at one time was a class leader in that denomination. During his last illness he was a great sufferer, but a patient one, and frequently expressed a desire to go home and be at rest, saying, "I am ready when He calls me." Funeral services were held in the M. E. church at Flint, conducted by Rev. E. H. Peters. Interment at Jackson Prairie.
