SARAH ANN (BARNEY) HOUGH, 05 Feb 1817 - 24 Feb 1904

   Sarah A., daughter of John and Lucy Barney, was born at Charlotte, 
Vermont, February 5, 1817; died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry 
Linder, Angola, Ind., aged 87 years, 19 days.
   In 1821 her parents removed to Canaan, Conn., where her girlhood was 
spent and then to Worthington, Ohio.  Here in 1835 she was married to 
William Hough and in 1845 they came to carve a home for themselves out of 
the wilderness.  Her husband died in 1880 and she has made her home ever 
since with her daughter Mrs. H. L. Linder, the only survivor of her five 
children.  In her early youth she confessed Christ and united with the M. 
E. church.  After her removal to this place she became a member of the 
Congregational church and was always in her place when health and strength 
permitted.  Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, conducted by. C. 
K. Stockwell.  Interment in Circle Hill cemetery.

May 1835, married William Hough, 20 Mar 1807 -  1880.  www.familysearch.org, 
Family Group Record, states his date of death was 09 Sep 1860 but the 1880 
United States Census lists him alive in Steuben Township, Steuben County, 
Indiana.  They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, 
Indiana.

CHILDREN:

   Helen (Hough) Linder, born about 03 May 1837 - 12 Aug 1875, 
(38y.3m.9d.), on 10 Nov 1858, married Henry Linder, 29 Jun 1832 - 17 Aug 
1905.  They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. 
   William Hough, born about 1837, no further information.
   George D. Hough, born about 1841, 1880 United States Census shows him 
living next door to his parents with his wife, Elizabeth, and their 4 
children and a niece.
   Laura M. (Hough) Kelley Linder, 20 Apr 1849 - 05 Mar 1911, on 06 Nov 
1867, married 1st, Eugene Kelley, 1843 - 1920.  Laura is buried at Circle 
Hill Cemetery and Eugene is buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben 
County, Indiana.  The 1880 United States Census, Steuben Township, Steuben 
County, Indiana, Family History Library Film #1254312, NA Film Number T9-
0312, page 303 C, shows Laura Kelley as divorced and living with her 
parents at the age of 31 with her 2 children, Harry, age 11, and Charley, 
age 10.
   Laura married 2nd, on 07 Sep 1880, Henry Linder, 29 Jun 1832 - 17 Aug 
1905, who was the widower of her deceased sister, Helen.  Henry is buried 
at Circle Hill Cemetery in the Hough plot.
   Mary Adelia Hough, 06 Jul 1859 - 13 Aug 1863, buried at Pleasant Lake 
Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
