STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 1904, page 1, column 7 SOLOMON HOFFMAN, 08 May 1829 - 18 Jun 1904 Solomon Hoffman was born near Georgetown, Columbiana county, Ohio, May 8, 1829, and died June 18th, 1904, aged 75 years, 1 month and 10 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Shadle Nov. 1, 1857; to them were born four children, Detric, of Steuben county; Orris of Shawnee, Oklahoma; Jerry of Homestead, Oklahoma; and Mary, the only daughter has preceded him to the better world. He leaves six grandchildren. He moved from Columbiana county, Ohio, in September 1864, bought a home near Fox Lake, which has remained his permanent home. The funeral services were preached at his home on Tuesday at two o'clock by Rev. Wooten of the M. E. church. Zion Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. There is a Mary A. or E. Hoffman listed as buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery but there is no other information to positively identify her as their daughter who preceded him in death.
