JOSEPH S. HEADLEY, 06 Apr 1824 - 24 Jul 1904

   Joseph S. Headley was born in Columbiana county, Ohio, April 6, 1842,** 
and died in York township, Steuben County, Ind., July 24, 1904, aged 80 
years, 3 months and 18 days.
   He was the third of ten children, five sons and five daughters.  He was 
married to Mariam Dunham who preceded him to the spirit land.  On July 4, 
1863, he was married to Margaret Wauee, with whom he had lived in 
happiness to the time of his departure.  In his early manhood he united 
with the Christian church and has lived a consistent christian.  He was a 
good neighbor, a kind friend and a devoted husband.  Deceased leaves one 
sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hemry, a number of nieces and nephews, and the wife 
to mourn their loss and await the summons from the other shore.

                   When thou thyself are dark."

               "No! It shall live again, and shine
                   In bliss unknown to beams of thine,
                By Him recalled to breath,
                   Who captive led captivity,
                Who robbed the grave of victory,
                   And took the sting from death."
**Date of birth is 06 Apr 1824.
Another obituary was published on 10 Aug 1904, page 1, column 7, but did 
not include the poem.

   Joseph S. Headley, 06 Apr 1824 - 24 Jul 1904, married 1st, Mariam 
Dunham, no dates or place of burial for Mariam.  He married 2nd, Margaret 
Wauee, 1833 - 1907.  Joseph and Margaret are buried at Circle Hill 
Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.

   Joseph's sister, Elizabeth Headley, 1828 - ?, married 1st, John L. 
Hanselman.  Married 2nd Abram Hemry, 20 Dec 1812 - 28 Aug 1879.  Elizabeth 
is buried at South Scott Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  John's burial 
place unknown.  Abram is buried at Powers Cemetery, Steuben County, 
Indiana, with his 1st wife, Mary Ann (McClaskey) Hemry, who died 15 Feb 
1863 at the age of 41 years, 9 months and 15 days.

   Another confirmation of Joseph's date of birth being 1824 is the 1880 
United States Census, showing them living in Camden, Hillsdale County, 
Michigan, Family History Library #1254580, NA Film Number T9-0580, page 
#78C, lists Joseph as 56 years of age.  Margaret is listed as 46 years.
