Obituary
Mrs. Mary Ann Hantz
Mary Ann Kaufman daughter of Joseph and Anna Kaufman was born in
Williams county, Ohio, January 8 1852 and departed this life at her
home in York township, Steuben County, Indiana December 30 1828 at the
age of 76 years, 11 months and 22 days. When but a small child
she was bereft of a mothers care and for a time lived in the home of a
Neighbor. later her father remarried and moved to Steuben
county. She was brought to her fathers home where she lived
united she was united in marriage to Alfred Hantz March 21, 1875, For
nearly 54 years they have shared life's joys and sorrows
together. To this union were born nine children, three of whom
have passed to the great beyond. One son passed away in infancy,
Jesse, who passed away July 4 1898 at the age of 21 years. James, who
passed away April 1 1893, at the age of 14 years. A stepdaughter
Mrs Martha Goodrich, whom she cared for as her own passed away May 29,
1928, The remaining children are Fred, Mrs Anna Barron, Charles,
Mrs Ella Calin, Robert and Erwin, who with the husband and father, 16
grandchildren, one great grand child, 8 step grandchildren and 4 step
great grandchildren, one brother, Jacob Kaufman of Newman Grove, Nebr,
3 half brothers, Wesley, Frank and Alex Kaufman of Fremont, on half
sister, Mrs Katherine Kogin of Hudson Indiana and many other relatives
and friends to mourn her going, Three brothers, John Henry
and James tow half sisters and one half brother preceded her in
death.
In young woman hood she united with the Methodist Church at Jones
Chapel and later in life during the ministry of L L Carpenter she
united with the Christian church at South Scott and has ever since been
a good faithful Chrisian.
Dearest mother from us has gone
The voice we loved is still.
A place is vacant in our home
which never can be filled.
Funeral services were held at the South Scott church Wednesday, January
2 1929, Dr. John Humphreys officiating. Burial in the South Scott
cemetery on the family lot
Card of Thanks
We, the family wish to thank the friends and neighbors for the kindness
shown us during the sickness and death of our beloved, wife and mother,
also the minister, singers and for the beautiful flowers. Alfred
Hantz family.
Mary Ann is the Great-Grand Aunt of my
husband, His Great ,great grandfathers daughter.
