EARL WENDELL HANTZ, 01 Aug 1913 - 18 Jun 1987

   Earl Wendell Hantz, 73, Angola, died at home Sunday.  He 
was born in Scott Township to Ervin and Ola Teegarden Hantz.
   Surviving are his wife, Velma Skelly Hantz; one son, 
Wendell Hantz, Butler; two daughters, Janet Dowell, Angola, 
and Shirley Brownheim, Royal Oak, Mich., 12 grandchildren; 
nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Jimmie Hantz, Battle 
Creek, Mich., and four sisters, Luella Price, Cordes Lake, 
Mayer, Ariz.; Virginia McClanahan, Orland; Esther Rhodes, 
Coldwater, Mich.; and Lois Fredericks, Detroit, Mich.
   Mr. Hantz was preceded in death by one son, Wayne E. Hantz 
in 1968; one granddaughter, Shelly Hantz in 1964; and one 
sister, Zeloise Hantz.
   He was a self-employed contractor and the former owner of 
the Reflector, now the Smart Shopper.  He was a member of the 
Pleasant View Church of Christ and the loyal Order of Moose 
in Angola.
   Services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Weicht 
Funeral Home, Angola, with the Rev. Ron Miller officiating.  
Burial will be in South Scott Cemetery.  Memorials may be 
made to the Steuben County Chapter of the American Diabetes 
Association.

   Earl Wendell Hantz, 01 Aug 1913 - 18 Jun 1987, son of 
Erwin C. Hantz, 26 Feb 1894 - 04 Mar 1939, and Ola Margaret 
(Teegardin) Hantz Fockler, 28 Mar 1893 - 31 Jul 1968.  Ola 
was the daughter of Silas Teegardin, 10 Mar 1857 - 05 May 
1936, and his 2nd wife, Temperance (Fruchey) Teegardin, 19 
Oct 1857 - 20 Mar 1921.  No information on Ola's 2nd husband, 
George Fockler.  Earl and his parents are buried at South 
Scott Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  Earl married Velma 
(Skelly) Hantz born in 1914, no date of death or place of 
burial.

Son:  Lt. Wayne E. Hantz, 19423 - 1968, U. S. Air Force, 
married Nannette (______) Hantz.  Wayne is buried at South 
Scott Cemetery.

Sister:  Virginia (Hantz) McClanahan, 23 Dec 1929 - 14 Jun 
1990, married Welburn McClanahan, 08 Jul 1926 - 21 Dec 1983, 
son of H. B. "Ted" McClanahan and Wava (_____) McClanahan 
Mettert.  Virginia and Welburn are buried at Greenlawn 
Cemetery, Orland, Steuben County, Indiana.
