Fred Hanes
 
In the Hamilton News, May 16, 1941, it says "FRED B. HANES PASSED AWAY SATURDAY.  Fred B. Hanes passed away at his home in the west part of town Saturday evening after a long illness, Mr. Hanes was born in this vicinity and had spent his entire life here.  He was 48 year of age.  Mr. Hanes has been a sufferer from Buerger's disease and had to have a leg amputated in order to check the disease, which was only temporary.  Recently he was stricken also with diabetes.  He has been in poor health for many years, although his never give up spirit kept him from being bedfast most of the time.  Surviving are the widow, Ethel, two sons, Robert and Charles of Fort Wayne, and two daughters Mr. Bessie Collins of Hartford City, and Mrs. Mary Jane Griffith of Hamilton;  his father and mother Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Hanes, of Hamilton.  Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, May 13, at 2:00 Island park hotel with Rev. A. P. Benjamin, pastor of the Church of Christ of Hamilton, officiating.  Burial was made in the Hamilton Cemetery.  The Masonic lodge of which he was a member had charge of the graveside services."
