Charles B. Hanes
In his obituary in the Hamilton News,
Wednesday December 14, 1983 it reports, "CHARLES HANES DIES IN FLORIDA
Charles B. Hanes Sr., age 62, of Route 2 Hamilton, passed away Wednesday
morning December 7, 1983 at Haines City, Florida. He was born October
6, 1921 in Stroh, IN to Fred and Ethel Hanes. Charles was a mail carrier
for 32 years before retiring in October of this year. He was a member
of the American Legion Post 202 in Butler. He was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Hanes was preceded in death by a wife, Phyllis who passed away in March
of 1968. Surviving are one son, Charles Hanes, Jr. of Hamilton; two
sisters, Mary Jane Griffith of Hamilton and Mrs. Betty Collins of Gaston,
Indiana; one brother, Robert L. Hanes of Hamilton; one grandson Charlie Hanes
of Hamilton. Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 10 at 2:00 p.m.
from the Wilson funeral home. Robert Loffer of the Hillcrest Baptist
Church in Angola was the minister officiating. Burial was in the Hamilton
cemetery. Memorials are to the individual's choice. Military
services were held at the cemetery."
