STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9, 1898, page 4, column 3 HOMER HAMILTON was born Nov. 16, 1869, in Jackson township, Steuben county, Ind., and died at his home at Crooked Lake, Feb. 27, 1898, aged 28 years, 8 months and 11 days. He lived with his parents at the place of his birth until about 17 years of age, when they removed to Crooked lake where he has since resided. His father departed this life, March 20, 1895, and his mother in the November following. He remained with his parents, a loving and dutiful son, until they were taken away. March 17, 1897, he was united in marriage with Clara Fast, also of Crooked lake. They immediately began housekeeping at the old homestead, where they resided until the time of his death. Homer was a loving husband and a kind friend to all. He leaves a wife, three sisters and one brother together with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at East Springfield church, LaGrange county, March 1, conducted by Rev. Weaver, of Orland, after which the remains were laid to rest beside his parents in the cemetery nearby. The "Old Settlers' Meeting" on August, 13, 1896, published in the Steuben Republican, Wednesday, August 19, 1896, Angola, Indiana, page 1, columns 4, 5, 6, 7, under DEATH ROLL, states "Abigail Carr Hamilton was born in St. Lawrence county, New York, March 22, 1827.
