JOHN JESSE GREENAMYER, 02 Oct 1885 - 08 Apr 1967 John Jesse Greenamyer, only child of George and Hannah Bowersock Greenamyer, was born in Scott Township near Fremont, Ind., on October 2, 1885, and departed this life after an extended illness on April 8, 1967, at the age of 81 years. His mother, father and adopted sister preceded him in death. John acquired his education in the district school of the neighborhood where he was raised. With the exception of a couple years, he lived on the same homestead where he was born until six years ago when he entered the Adam's Nursing Home in Angola. In March of 1966 he transferred to the Sheehy Nursing home in Butler. He was married to Rosa Mae Shoup on July 24, 1904. She preceded him in death on February 25, 1951. To this union were born six children: Mildred, Bryle, Earle, Bertha, Jesse and Raymond. Mildred and Raymond passed away in infancy and Bertha at the age of 22. He is survived by three sons, Bryle, Earle and Jesse; their wives, Joyce, Lois and Margaret; five granddaughters, Beverly and Roslyn, with their husbands, Ray and Carl; Mary Kaye, Helen, and Gayle; one grandson, Airman John Kimsey Greenamyer, (two illegible words); two great-granddaughters, Linda and Colette; a brother-in-law and wife, Mrs. and Mrs. Harvey Shoup; several nieces and nephews and many friends and relatives. Funeral services were held at the Beams Funeral Home, Tuesday, April 11, with Rev. Malcolm Meston officiating. Burial followed in the Jordan Cemetery. John was the son of George Washington Greenamyer, 18 Mar 1855 - 26 Jun 1918, on 14 Mar 1878, married Hannah (Bowersock) Greenamyer, 02 May 1851 - 19 Jan 1917. John had an adopted sister, Nettie (Greenamyer) Brown, 06 Jul 1878 - 15 Jun 1900, 1st wife of Burton Brown, 1874 - 1947, whose 2nd wife was Anna (Shoup) Brown, 1878 - 1943. They are all buried at Jordan Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Rosa was the daughter of Jacob and Anna Mary (Schieber) Shoup, and a sister of Harvey Shoup, 15 Oct 1889 - Oct 1970, married Nada Belle (Chrysler) Shoup, 19 Jan 1891 - 17 Sep 1977. Harvey and Nada are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. CHILDREN OF THE MARRIAGE OF JOHN AND ROSA: Byrle E. Greenamyer, 21 Jun 1906 - 26 Jun 1979, on 01 Dec 1936 married Joyce (Harter) Greenamyer, 22 Jan 1909 - 05 Feb 1977, daughter of Harvey and Josie (Merriett) Harter. Byrle and Joyce are buried at Coventry Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Earle R. Greenamyer, 11 Sep 1908 - 01 Jan 1994, on 06 Apr 1930 married Lois Fern (Everett) Greenamyer, 01 Apr 1910 - no date of death, daughter of Judson and Emily (LaRue) Everett. Earle and Lois are buried at Jordan Cemetery. Jesse Lee Greenamyer, 01 Nov 1915 - 27 Feb 2001, on 16 Mar 1940 married Margaret (Carr) Greenamyer, 10 Aug 1920 - 12 Dec 2001, daughter of Arthur E. Carr, 1867 - 1943, and Helen M. (Maloy) Carr, 1883 - 1961. Arthur and Helen are buried at Lake Gage Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Bertha M. Greenamyer, 1911 - 1913, buried at Jordan Cemetery. Raymond J. Greenamyer, 12 Sep 1918 - 22 Dec 1919, buried at Jordan Cemetery. Mildred Greenamyer, no dates listed, buried at Jordan Cemetey.
