Steuben - Republican May 1903 Adam H. Gleason ( 17 Dec. 1838- 20 May 1903 ) Adam H. Gleason was born in Richland County, Ohio, December 17, 1838, died at his home near Loon Lake, Pleasant Township, Steuben County, Indiana, aged 64 years, 5 months, and 3 days. His father, Porter Gleason, came to Steuben County, in 1840, when Adam H., was about two years old and the family consisting of nine children, have been well known throughout the county as pioneer residents. Adam H. enlisted August 27, 1861, in Co. A. 29th Indiana Vol., and was discharged December 21, 1865, after an honorable service record of four years and three months. At the time of his veteran furlough, he united in marriage with Amanda R. Culp, by whom he had five children, three now living, Otis S., Charles E., and Dudley W., the two last being soldiers in the Spanish War as members of Co. H. 157th Indiana Vol. Adam H. has been a consistant member of the Christian Church for nearly forty years, and of the Grand Army of the Republic for over twenty years. His funeral was held at the residence, May 22, under auspices of Fremont Lodge F. and A.M. No. 210 and G.A.R. Post 150, Elder C.S. Medbury minister officiating. Burial at Jackson Prairie Cemetery.
