Steuben Republican, 23 August 1933
Elizabeth Dayhuff
Elizabeth Carline Dayhuff, daughter of Catherine and Lester
Wilcox, was born June 13, 1855, in Allen county, near Huntertown.
She was married to Hosea Dayhuff on March 1, 1874, by Elder
Martin. They were baptized near Mt. Zion and began their
Christian lives in the same church. From this time until her
passing, Aug. 13, 1933, she lived in Steuben county, forty-eight years
of which were spent in Pleasant Lake. Mrs. Dayhuff is survived by
two daughters, Mrs. Emma Hoyer of near Pleasant Lake, and Mrs. Lillie
Seydell of Elkhart, and by two brothers, Frank and William. A
brother and two sisters preceded her in death. She has ten
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her home and her church were her main interests in life. She
was always busy, if not in her own home, then in a daughters; if
not in her own church, then in whatever church was nearest. The
last wish of her life was gratified in that she spent the last days in
her own home. She has departed this earthly house to inherit a
house not made with hands, incorruptible, and eternal which her Lord
hath prepared for her.
