Lyman J. Caswell
Son of Jotham and Mary Worden Caswell, was born in New York, June
26,
1830, and departed this life at his home in Scott Township, Dec 4,
1909,
aged 79 years, 5 months and 8 days, being the last of a family of
thirteen.
*(this is an error Lyman J. was the second youngest, Andrew
D. was born after him) While small, his parents moved near
Paynesville,
Ohio, where they lived a short time then came to Indiana, locating
northeast
of Fremont for some years, where his mother died when he was about
ten
years old.
The father kept the family together unti his death four years
later.
When the home was brokend and Lyman was left to care for himself
at the
age of fourteen. On Nov 14, 1858 he was united in marriage
to
Jane
Ann Klock. To this union were born two children who prec
eded him
to the
spirit land. The greater part of his married life of
over
fifty-one years, was spent in Scott township where he made many
friends.
He was for many years an active memeber of the Masonic lodge of
Fremont,
Indiana. He was also, until advanced years prevented his
attending,
a member of the order of the Eastern Star at Hall's Corners.
He
leaves
to mourn their loss, a devoted wife, several nieces and nephews
and a
host
of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Elder Vernon Stauffe.... at the late home, Monday Dec 6.
