STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 1, 1894, page 8, column 4 GEORGE BALDING, 23 Oct 1856 - 28 Jul 1894 DIED at his home in Scott township, Steuben County, Indiana, July 28, 1894, George Balding, aged 37 years, 9 months and 5 days. Deceased was born in Steuben county and was the son of the late George W. Balding, one of the pioneers. He was a good citizen and very highly respected, and until his recent resignation was trustee of Scott township. He leaves a wife and two children, a boy and a girl to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. Funeral services were held Jul 29, conducted by Rev. H. O. Spellman and were largely attended. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: George Balding, 23 Oct 1856 - 28 Jul 1894, on 19 Jun 1881, married Alice "Allie" (Nisonger) Balding, 1860 - 1923. George was the son of George Wightman Balding, 12 Apr 1813 - 18 Feb 1894, who, on 16 Nov 1836, married Jane L. (Armstrong) Balding, 1816 - 02 Jun 1890. Both couples are buried in adjoining lots at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, IN. Rollo Balding, 1883 - 1887, is buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. It appears that there may be some unnamed Balding babies in unmarked graves on Sec. 3, Lot 3, where George Wightman and Jane Balding are buried. Brother, George Balding, __ ____ 1840 - 24 Dec 1840, buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. Possible brother, Fremont Balding, 1845 - 28 Mar 1891, married Jessie (Sanders) Balding, 1859 - 1924.
