Son of John Elmer and Susan George; born June 24, 1890, near Helmer, Steuben County, Ind. Living in Fort Wayne, when he was called into service, September 21, 1917. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky.; transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss.; assigned to Company B, 113th Regiment Engineers, 38th Division. While helping to fell a tree he was wounded, from which he died March 4, 1918, Camp Shelby. Buried in Millersburg, Elkhart County, Ind.
