Rank: 1st Lieutenant

Son of Jacob and Ida Cassell; born November 18, 1889, Fremont, Steuben County, Ind. Graduated from Chicago University Medical School in 1914. Practicing medicine in Sweet Grass, Mont., when he entered service October 12, 1917. Assigned to 130th Field Ambulance, 10th Battalion. Overseas in May, 1918. While attending the wounded at first aid station, Englefontaine, France, a shell dropped near by, killing him instantly, November 4, 1918. The American Legion Post, Fremont, Ind., named in his honor.
