KNOX — John C. Mann, 81, of Knox died Sunday, July 24, 2011.
He is survived by a daughter, Gail Sample of Hanna; three stepsons, Phil Owens of Knox, Tim Owens of Culver, Bobby Owens of Grovertown; three sisters, Martha Allen, Mary Cole, Vera Cole; two brothers, Bill Mann and Cecil Mann; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and 13 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 28 at 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDT at M.C. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the visitation Thursday at 1 p.m. at the M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery.

HAMLET-Wanda P. Marsh, 74, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009 in the home of her daughter in Augusta, Ga.
She is survived by one daughter, Wanda K. Marsh of Augusta, Ga.; three sons: Walter Marsh of Valparaiso, Gene Marsh of Encinitas, Calif. And Thomas Marsh of Woodridge, Ill.; four grandchildren; four sisters: Alice Woodruff, JoAnn Metts and Glenda Weinkauff, all of Wanatah, and Mallisa Dean Tarpley of Hardy, Ark.; and two brothers: Charles Beaty of Hardy, Ark. And Thomas Beaty of LaPorte.
Visitation will take place Friday, Sept. 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. (CDT) and Saturday one hour prior to the service at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. (CDT) at the chapel.
Burial will be at the Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox.
Memorial contributions may be given to the hospice of choice.
Martin, Delores "Dee"

HAMLET — Delores "Dee" Martin, 82, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, in her home of an illness.
Mrs. Martin was born Aug. 10, 1927 in Gary, to Edward and Jennie (Anderson) Addison. On Nov. 28, 1947 in Hobart, she was married to Hobart Martin, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Laura Walters of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sons, Brent (Eileen) Martin of Plymouth and Brain (Brenda) Martin of Statesville, N.C.; and three grandchildren, Kevin Walters, Kirsten Martin and Erika Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Mrs. Martin was co-owner of Farm Fertilizer of Hamlet from 1955-2003. She spent her winters in Florida with her husband for more than 20 years.
She was an avid golfer in both Indiana and Florida. She was a past-member of the Plymouth Country Club, a 1949 graduate of Ball State University and was a high school teacher for five years.
A memorial service will be Sunday at 1 p.m. (Central Time) at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel with Pastor Tom Padberg officiating.
Friends may call Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Sunday one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Oregon-Davis Elementary School Enhancement Fund.

KNOX — Helen V. McDaniel, 94, died Monday, May 11, 2009 in her home.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Boyle of Hamlet; two sons: James McDaniel of Winamac and George McDaniel of Merrillville; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 15 at 11 a.m. CDT at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial will be in the Round Lake Cemetery, Knox. Visitation is Thursday, May 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT and Friday after 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.

HAMLET — James M. Meadows Sr., 72, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009 in the VNA Hospice Center, Valparaiso.
Survivors include: his wife, JoAnn; two daughters: Patricia Ekart of Knox and Donna Meadows of Hamlet; two sons: Robert of Hamlet and James Jr. of Grovertown; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Betty Siroky of Pompano Beach, Fla., Ann Keltz of Plymouth and Arlene Abiney of LaPorte; two brothers: Lester Jr. of Grovertown and his twin brother, John of Grovertown.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. Central Time at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial will be at the Grovertown Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. CST until the time of services at the funeral home. A military honors service will be held at the funeral home after the funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be given to the VNA Hospice Center or the family.

HAMLET — Vivian M. Mickow, 94, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, Ind.
Mrs. Mickow was born July 7, 1915 in LaPorte County, Ind. to James and Elizabeth (Allison) Benson and lived in the area all of her life.
Dec. 2, 1933 in Crown Point, Ind. she was married to Burton Mickow, who preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Anita Mickow; a son-in-law, Bob Hinz; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include one son, James Mickow of Hamlet; two daughters, Lois (Jim) Daube of Walkerton and Margie Mickow of Plymouth; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mickow was a homemaker. She graduated from Center Township School, Knox, in 1933 and was valedictorian of her class. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Hamlet, the St. Matthew Ladies Aid, and a charter member of the Better Homes Club of Hamlet.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. (Central Time) at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hamlet with Pastor Kyle Wright officiating.
Burial will be at the Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel and Thursday at the church after 10 a.m. until the time of services.

KNOX — Donnie Miller, 57, of Knox, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009 at Goshen Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Barb Miller; son, Adam Pittman of Knox; two daughters: Jennifer Pittman of Plymouth and Rachel Miller of Knox; three brothers: Orban Barnett of Knox, Douglas Miller of Michigan City, and Paul Miller of North Judson; and three sisters: Juanita Fugate of Rochester, Kathy Braasch of Argos and Rhonda Bolen of Woodworth, La.
Visitation will take place Monday, Aug. 3, 2009 at Braman and Son Memorial Chapel, 108 S. Main St., Knox.
Funeral services will take place at Community Gospel Church, Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009 at 1 p.m.

HAMLET — Bryan Andrew Mills, 32, of Hamlet, died Nov. 2 suddenly following an automobile crash. He was born July 10, 1978.
He is survived by a daughter, Samantha Ann Mills; his mother, Linda (Mechei) Mills of Gary; his father, John (Anna) Mills of Whiting; brothers: John II (Lori) Mills of Evansville, Pete Shaffer of Chesterton, Joe (Lori) Shaffer of Whiting and Danny (Elisa) Spremo of Whiting; and sisters : Sheila (Mike) Smith of Tyner; Rose (Jerry) Clemons of Crown Point and Eva Litzinger of Oakland, Calif.; and his maternal grandmother, Anita Mechei of Gary. He is also survived by nieces Mallory Miller, Jessica Clemons and Morgan Grankowski and nephews Michael Smith III, John Mills III, Dalton Miller, Jerry Clemons, Chris Grankowski and Gordon Litzinger.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Angela; his maternal grandfather Phillip Mechei; paternal grandparents Greg and Mary Ann Mills and a nephew, Michael Johnson.
Bryan graduated from John Glenn High School in 1998 and was an employee of Swan Lake Golf Academy. He was a proud member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local #413.
Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at Owens-Ruzich Funeral Home, 816 119th St. (corner of Calumet Avenue - Rt. 41 and 119th Street), Whiting.
Services are Saturday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Bergsma officiating. Burial will be at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary.

He is survived by his father, Timer Milner of Hamlet; one brother, Phil (Chris) Milner of Hamlet; and one niece.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. (CT) Thursday, Aug 26 and from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Aug 27 at Rannells Funeral Homne, Hamlet Chapel.
