KNOX — Dawn Back, 47, of Knox, died Friday, April 24, 2009.
She is survived by sons: Jessy Back of Michigan City, Jamie Back of West Frankfort, Ill., Matthew Back of Miller, and Brian Back of Knox; 10 grandchildren; brothers: Doug Campbell of North Judson, Michael Campbell of Chesterton, David Campbell of Knox and Dwain Campbell of Cookville, Tenn.; and sisters: Marcia Thorne of Plymouth, Cindy Campbell of Plymouth and Carla Campbell of Chesterton.
Services are Wednesday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at United Baptist Church of Aldine. Visitation is one hour before the service at the church.
Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox, is in charge of the arrangements.

KNOX — Glaster Back, 87, of Knox, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008 at Golden Living Center, Knox.
He is survived by his wife, Lula Back of Knox; daughter, Carol (Jim) Siddall of Knox; son, Ron Back of Knox; sisters: Opal Owens of North Judson, Carrie Mann of Knox and Evelyn Meyers of Monon; brothers: Angelo Back of Knox, Costallo Back of Florida and Roger Back of Walkerton; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is Thursday, Nov. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox. Funeral services are Friday, Nov. 14 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.

KNOX — Sally A. Baes, 67, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008 in her home.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly (Rick) Berg of Grovertown; two sons: Nicholas (Monica) Southwell of Plymouth and Monte (Jennifer) Southwell of Valparaiso; eight grandchildren; three sisters: Helen Brooks of Richmond, Va., Evelyn Knuth of Florida and Ruth Dean of Eau Claire, Mich.; and two brothers: Paul Baes and Ed Baes, both of Coloma, Mich.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Central Time at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Visitation is Thursday from 10 a.m. CDT until the time of services. A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. CDT (3:30 p.m. EDT) at the chapel at North Shore Memory Gardens Cemetery, Coloma, Mich.

NORTH JUDSON — Riley Roger Bailey, 60, of North Judson, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008 at home.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Bailey of Knox; mother, Irene Bailey of Knox; sons: Roger (Jo Ann) Bailey of Rensselaer, Richard (Candy) Bailey of Culver and Rusty (Misty) Bailey of Knox; sisters: Dorothy Ludwig of Grovertown, Delores Hollinger of Koontz Lake and Carol Corey of Knox; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation is Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Braman & Son Memorial Chapel, Knox. Funeral services are Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Round Lake Cemetery

KNOX — Thomas E. Baxter, 69, of Knox, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008 at Simon Cancer Center in Indianapolis. Thomas was born Nov. 11, 1938 in Princeton, Ill. to Aaron E. and Marion (Yarrington) Clements Baxter, both deceased.
He retired from Exterior Designers in Valparaiso and spent his retirement traveling, playing his banjo and spending time with his family. He was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church of South Haven. He married his beloved wife of 52 years, Gloria J. Cherry of June 12, 1956, she survives. Also surviving are their children: Thomas J. (Brooke) Baxter of Valparaiso, Misti Everage of Hamlet, Cynthia (Ralph) Dalton of Plymouth and Laurie (Kenneth) Woelk of Knox; a brother, Larry (Milena) Baxter of Knox; sisters: Joyce Miracle of Hobart and Tina (Doug) Hepp of Schererville; stepmother, Dorothy Baxter of Hobart; and his greatest pleasures in life his 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Carl Laverne Clements of French Lick.
According to his wishes, services and interment will be private.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Leukemia Foundation in his name.

KNOX — Delores D. Beauchamp, 76, of Knox, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009.
She is survived by brothers and sisters: Russell (Lyla) Beauchamp of Knox, Wilson (Sherry) Beauchamp of Grand Island, Fla., Edna (Harry) Hillis of Ora and Linda (Mark) Secor of Plymouth.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 27 at 7 p.m. with visitation starting at 4 p.m. at M.C. Smith Funeral Home, Knox. Interment is private.
Benko, Gerald

KNOX — Gerald Benko, 62, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
Mr. Benko was born March 26, 1947 in South Bend, to Joseph and Margaret (Horvath) Benko Sr. and lived in the Knox area for 28 years, coming from South Bend. On March 6, 1982 in Knox, he was married to the former Cathy Ewing, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons: Raymond Manns of LaPaz, Jerry Manns of Culver, Brian Manns of Culver and Stephen Benko of Knox; five grandchildren and two brothers, Joseph Benko Jr. and John Benko, both of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Benko was an employee of Stanz Food, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Teamsters Union Local #364.
Friends may call Thursday, July 2, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT and Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Eagle Creek Cemetery, Knox , where military graveside services will be conducted.

HAMLET — Edward Bracich, 75, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis.
He is survived by his wife Carol; sons: Mark (Sharon) of Colorado and Jim (Shata) of Hamlet; daughters: Sherry and Kelly, both of Arizona; step-son, Mike (Rhonda) Edwards of Hamlet; step-daughter, Kelly Edwards of Hamlet; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers: Wally of Munster and Bob of DeMotte; and sisters: Martha Bianco of Portage and Emily Santelik of Whiteland.
Visitation will take place Thursday, Oct. 15 from 1 p.m. (Central Time) until the time of services at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Funeral services will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date.

HAMLET — Elmer “Ronald” Blum, 65, of LaPorte, formerly of Hamlet, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at home.
Survivors include three sons: Mike (Andrea) Blum of Plymouth, Scott (Michelle) Blum of Auburn and Jody (Kristan) Blum of Mobile, Ala.; one daughter, Sandy (Greg) Galloway of LaPorte; two sisters: Norma Shively of Hamlet and Judy Decker of LaPorte; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and his ex-wife and special friend, Nancy Blum.
Funeral services will be Thursday, March 26 at 11a.m. (Central Time) at Rannells Funeral Home, Hamlet Chapel. Burial will be at the Fletcher Cemetery, Hamlet. Visitation is Wednesday, March 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. CDT and Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Hamlet United Methodist Church.
Bailey, Edgar

Knox - Edgar Bailey, 88, of Rural Knox, died Friday, August 13, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Knox.
Edgar was born to Maston Bailey and Eliza Miller Bailey in the Ohio River town of Rabbit Hash, Boone County, Kentucky August 28, 1921. The Bailey and Miller families were early settlers of Magoffin and Floyd counties in Kentucky and Edgar was proud of his Kentucky heritage though he was raised in Indiana.
Edgar married Elsie Watson Bailey September 13, 1941 in Starke County. She survives. They made their home and raise their family and Starke County and Ober and in rural Knox, and also live for a short time in Kentucky.
In his younger years, Edgar was an automobile mechanic. And the early 1950s, he learned to operate heavy construction machinery, eventually becoming an operating engineer. He was a member of local 150 of the international Union of operating engineers for more than 50 years. He especially enjoyed running cranes, including the long boom cranes, and was very knowledgeable about them.
His skillful and safe crane operation earned him the respect of his coworkers. They trusted him to complete a job safely while protecting those working with him. He worked on construction projects across Northern Indiana and in Chicago and also at Burns Harbor unloading cargo ships.
Following in the footsteps of his grandfather, John Bailey, Edgar was also a minister of the Baptist faith for more than 50 years. He was ordained in ancient Christian Association of the United Baptist Church in Kentucky and later, in the free Will Baptist Church in Indiana. He was often called upon to minister in area churches and he held offices in his denominations including clerk and treasurer.
He was well-known in the area for performing weddings and for his ministry of visiting the sick. He founded several local churches, including the Little Dove Baptist Church in Toto and the Knox Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of the Knox free Will Baptist Church.
His family will miss the sound of his voice and the words of his prayers before meals at family gatherings. His Christian faith is the best inheritance that Edgar has given his family.
Edgar love to travel, especially in an RV. Among his favorite trips was a motorhome journey to Alaska. He also enjoyed wintering in Florida for many years.
In addition to his wife, Elsie, Edgar is survived by four daughters: Delores J. Rodgers (Dean) of Knox; Donna K. Runyon (Jack) of New Haven; Shirley A. Van Zanten (Ken) of Jenison, Mich, and Sandra L. Ellis (Dan) of St. John; one son: Ronald E. Bailey (Patti) of Dallas, Ga.; and 11 grandchildren: David Rodgers, Deborah Rodgers Joseph, Daniel Rodgers, Douglas Runyan, Jeffrey Runyan, Jennifer Runyan Cassel, Eric Brown, Sawna Brown, Sherry Kimmey Deslauriers, Steven Kimmey and Erin Bailey Turner; and 24 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by half brothers and sisters Cecil Donald, Melissa and Ruby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, newborn daughter, Caroline Hsu; brothers: German and Elmore; sisters: Easter Howard, Applewhite and Elsie Hill; and half brothers: Virgil, Earl, Forest and Henry Joe.
Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. (Starke County time) Monday, August 16, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at Rannels funeral home, Hamlet.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (Starke County time) Tuesday, August 17 at the funeral home, with the Reverend James R. Adcock of the Bible Baptist Church in Knox officiating.
Burial will follow at Fletcher cemetery, Hamlet.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Greater Indiana Chapter or American Heart Association, Northern Indiana Chapter.
Rannels funeral home, Hamlet, is in charge of arrangements.
