Josephine Gray, 96, of Carthage, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville. She was born Nov. 5, 1907, in Kentucky. She married Cecil Albert Gray on Dec. 11, 1933; he preceded her in death on Aug. 10, 1982. Mrs. Gray lived in Carthage most of her life. She was a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church of Carthage and United Methodist Women. Survivors include one son, Sam Gray (and wife Mary Lou) of Carthage; one daughter, Millie Alice (Mrs. Donald) Cooper of Scottsburg; 12 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, four brothers, six sisters, and one grandchild. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fletcher United Methodist Church of Carthage, with Pastor Roger Campbell officiating. The Todd Funeral Home, Carthage Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Carthage. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
