Girtie Henderson, 82, of Knightstown, died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at her residence. Born Dec. 24, 1918, in Olive Hill, Ky., she was the daughter of John Milton and Abbie Gilliam, both deceased. She married Raymond E. Henderson in 1934; he preceded her in death. Mrs. Henderson had been a resident of Henry County most of her adult life. She was a homemaker and a member of the 14th Street Church of God in New Castle. Survivors include three sons, Junior Henderson of Alvarado, Texas, Teddy Henderson (and wife Linda) of Indianapolis, and Rex Henderson (and wife Jan) of Pendleton; one daughter, Ruby Conley of Aurora, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Margaret Henderson of Greenfield; five sisters, Lorean Porter of Indiana, Geraldine (Mrs. Lester) Howard of West Virginia, Betty (Mrs. Aaron) Arnett of Ohio, and Ruby Rayburn and Geneva (Mrs. Ira) Littleton, both of Kentucky; two brothers, Lovell Gilliam (and wife Phyllis) of Kentucky and James Gilliam (and wife Julie) of Indiana; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, one brother, and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Todd Funeral Home, Butcher Chapel in Knightstown, with the Rev. Randy Cross officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Henry County Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice.
