Ruth E. Clawson, 91, of Manilla, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at
Heritage House in Shelbyville.

Born Sept. 22, 1914, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Mary Adeline (Dellekamp) Snyder, both deceased. She married Woodrow Clawson May 27, 1938; he preceded her in death in 1971. Mrs. Clawson spent most of her life in the Manilla area. She worked 29 years for T.R.W. Cinch, retiring in 1980. She was a graduate of St. Joseph High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. AnneÕs Alter Society. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda (Mrs. Nelson) Houston of Manilla; two sisters, Mary Walton and Catherine Schoentrup, both of Shelbyville; two brothers, Dave Snyder (and wife Catherine) of Shelbyville and Jim Snyder of Clifton, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Anne Wells; one grandson, Lee Wells; one sister, Fern Kappes; and three brothers, Wayne, Dick and John William Snyder. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shelbyville. Burial will follow in Manilla Cemetery in Rush County. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Carmony-Ewing Broadway Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Shelby County or the Manilla Volunteer Fire Department. |
