VICK, Harry, s/o William and Lida (Lydia) Vick was born Jan 2nd, 1875 and died March 25th, 1895, age 20 years and 2 months. He was a kind and generous boy, had a host of friends and was loved by all who knew him. He belonged to the Christian Church at Mt. Gilead.
A precious one from us is gone
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
Which never can be filled.
God in His wisdom has recalled
The boon His love has given,
And though the body slumbers now,
The soul is safe in heaven.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. George Wagoner and the remains laid in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
Note:  His mother was Lydia Mann d/o John Mann, an early settler in Randolph Co. His father was the s/o of Nathan Vick, the Civil War soldier and his wife, Hannah Jane Peters who are also buried in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. For more information on this family see THE ANCESTRY AND DESCENDANTS OF NATHAN VICK (CIVIL WAR SOLDIER OF RANDOLPH CO., INDIANA) by Sandra E.H. Mumah (1997).
