Ray Owen Thompson, 105
----------
          FARMLAND - Ray Owen Thompson - age, 105. Born in Perry Township, Delaware County, on June 14, 1898, to Eddie and Edna Thompson. Graduated from Parker City High School and Automotive Engineering School, Kansas City, Missouri. Raised on a farm and continued farming for a great part of his life. Moved to Monroe Township in Randolph County in 1932.
          He worked at Warner Gear (Borg Warner) for 20 years, and retired from Sheller Globe in Union City. He was trustee and assessor of Monroe Township (Parker City and Farmland) for 20 years, and assisted with assessing until unable when he was 96. He served as President of Trustees of Randolph County and was on the welfare board.
          With his wife, Mary, he worked with Civil Defense and Red Cross classes. He was instrumental in collecting money for the various disasters for Red Cross. A former member of the Nazarene Church in Farmland, he attended the Friends Church in Parker City, where he taught Sunday school classes.
          Surviving - one daughter - Dorothy Johnson of Selma, four Grandchildren - Jeffery Johnson (Wife Theresa) of Selma, Nick Johnson (Wife Fonda) of Muncie, Linda Lowe Wood of Surfside Beach, Texas, and Eddie Lowe (Wife Cleon) of Pompano Beach Florida. Also eighteen Great - Grandchildren, twenty-nine Great-Great and three Great-Great-Great Grandchildren.
          He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, to whom he was married for 72 years, when she died in 1990; daughter, Ruth Bowmer Lewis; grandson, Ted Bowmer; brother, Fay Thompson.
          Memorials may be made out to Farmland, Parker Volunteer Firemen, MJS Mortuaries, Miller Chapel, Farmland. Calling hours, Friday 6-8 PM at Miller Chapel. Services Saturday March 27, 11 AM. Burial at Union Cemetery, south of Farmland.

Mrs. Mary Thompson, 57, is
claimed by death northeast
of Lynn.

     Lynn, Ind. - Mrs. Mary Thompson, 57, wife of Harvey Thompson, died at her home northeast of Lynn Sunday morning at 7:15 o'clock after a lingering illness.
     Surviving other than the husband, are three daughters, Mrs. Basil Mills of Muncie, Mrs. Geraldine Toohy of home and Mrs. Donald Ozsbun of Richmond; three sons, Leonard of Winchester route 3, Wilson of Springfield, Ohio, and Carl, at home; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Longnecker of near Lynn; one sister, Lydia Longnecker of near Lynn; and five brothers, Walter and James of near Lynn, Morton of Winchester, Robert of Chicago and Henry of Union City, and five grandchildren.
     Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Spartanburg Methodist church in charge of Rev. Adam Flatter, assisted by Rev. Laura Fetters. Burial will be in the Spartanburg cemetery. Friends may call at the home northeast of Lynn where the body has been taken from the Thomas mortuary.

Brought To Saratoga For Burial

Claude Thompson, former resident of Saratoga, died Monday at his home in Illinois. The body will be brought to Saratoga today (Thursday) and taken to the home of an uncle, Duke Warren. Funeral services will be held at the M.E. church at 2 o’clock this afternoon conducted by the Rev. G. H. Barker. Burial in Saratoga cemetery. Mr. Thompson is survived by his mother, Mrs. Gertrude Johnson, one sister, Mrs. Kenneth Mumpher, Lima, O., and two brothers, Ralph and Paul.

          Obituary -- Mary Lucetta Odle Thompson  was born at Windsor, Ind., on November 28, 1850, and died at the place of her birth on October 12, 104, aged 53 years, 10 months and 15 days. She was the daughter of John and Rachel Kidder Odle and has four sisters and three brothers, viz: Elizabeth Thornburg, Anna E. Hammers, Laverna Carver, Almira E. Davisson and James W., John W. and Joseph M. Odle, all of whom are now living, she being the first of the family of eight children to part with her dear life. She was married to George O. Thompson on August 3, 1872. From this union two children were born, Samuel E. and John W.; the last named surrendered his spirit to God who gave it in the prime of his manhood, on December 16, 1901. She was converted to Christianity at the M. E. church at Windsor in the 16th year of her age, and was taken in a member of said church and remained a respected and consistent member until she was called to her reward.
          She was initiated into Windsor Rebekah lodge, No. 533 I. O. O. F., of Windsor, Indiana, on December 11, 1896, and remained a faithful and respected member in good standing until the time of her death. She was a sufferer from disease for at least twenty-five years, but bore her afflictions with christian fortitude. She was a good and obedient child, a respected and honorable woman, a good and faithful wife, a kind and indulgent mother, a good christian, a beloved sister of the order and an honor to her sex, whose life and character are worthy of imitation. She leaves behind to mourn her loss, a heart-broken husband, one son, two daughters-in-law, three grandsons, an aged mother, an aged father-in-law, three brothers, four sisters and a host of friends and neighbors.

        THOMPSON, Robert, a brakeman on the R.R. was filling another fellow brakeman's job for him on the Big 4 R.R. Some painter had left a scaffolding where they had been painting a bridge and a piece hit him on the head. He died Sat. Sept. 8, 1894 age 22y, bur. Fountain Pk. Cem.
