        STANTON, Rachel, pioneer of Stoney Crk. twp. b. Dec. 30, 1811 d/o Joseph and Rachel Leonard, the 2nd wf/o Wm. Stanton the s/o David and Ann Slanton. He d. in 1896, they had 5 children, Aaron S. b. Aug. 3, 1845 m. Lydia Thomas in 1868, they had 7 children, Jonathan L. b. Mar. 23, 1847 m. Mildred ? and had 3 Children, (Mildred was formerly Reece), Wm. C. b. Dec.12,1849-d. June 23, 1851, Thomas L. b. Dec. 31, 1852-d. June 25, 1854 and Sarah A. b. Aug. 26,1855. Rachel d. Apr. 14,1893 of La Grippe and old age being 81 yrs of age. Serv by Rev. Henry Pickett and Rev. Ira Johnson. All bur. at the Poplar Run Cem. Rachel prob. m. in N.C. as Wm. and Rachel are listed as being on roule to Kansas, but, because of the condition of the country on Jan. 16, 1862 they stopped in R.C. The 1st wf/o Wm. was Sarah who d. and Rachel mothered his 3 llvlng children and his 3 step-children. 3 children are dec'd. Surv. are Mary A. who m. Wm Diggs, David m. Peninah Nicholson and Isaac.
