Rev. Harold G. Pierce, 82

MODOC - Rev. Harold G. Pierce, 82, of Modoc, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2006, in Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. He was born in Ohio on November 5, 1923, the son of Herbert E. and Stella Shrout Pierce. He lived most of his life in the Modoc area.
He served with the Army during WW II, and was a retired employee of Perfect Circle / Dana Corp., Hagerstown. During his career in the ministry, he served both Blountsville Christian Church and New Liberty Christian Church as Pastor. He was a member of Blountsville Christian Church.
Harold is survived by his wife, Donna; 2 sons, Steve Pierce (Debbie) of Modoc and Robin Pierce (Tami) of Wolcottville; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Clara Short of Winchester and Louise Mofield of Peru; and a brother, Herbert Pierce, Jr. of Parker City. A brother, Paul Pierce, preceded him in death in 1991.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 26, in Blountsville Christian Church. Rev. Tom Current, Pastor Vernon Rodeffer and Pastor Steve Gregory will officiate. Burial will be in Mooreland Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Culberson Funeral Home, Modoc, and at the church after 10 a.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to Blountsville Christian Church.

PIERCE, Burgess,
b. Oct. 1826 in Athens, Green Co. N.Y.-died of a train wreck near Kokomo Mar. 23,1891 ae 64y 6m. He moved with his parents to White Co. Ind. in 1844 and in 1847, became a mem. of the M.E. Church. On Sept.15 1853 he m. Miss Jane A.Goodrich, they had 2 dts.living in the state of Georgia. He moved to Winch. in 1856 from Whitely Co. and to U.C. in 1866. He was a prominent druggist.
