          OWENS, John R., An old citizen of Stoney Crk. twp. R.C. died last Sat. Apr, 29, 1893 ae 67y 1m 28d, b. near Yadkinville in N.C. Aug. 13, 1844. He was a mem. of the Friends Church b. Mar. 1, 1826 s/o Moses and Ellenor b. in Guilford Co. N.C. (conflicting obits).  On Apr. 13, 1851 he m. Anna E. Mendenhall and had 13 children, 7 sons and 6 dts, 4 are dec'd. (He m. Anna Eliza Mendenhall d/o Aaron and Hannah Mendenhall) Children were: Aaron Lindley (b.1856); Moses (b.1858-d. 1859), Wm. N. (b.1859); John J. (b.1861-d.1863); Walter R. (d. Clinton Co. OH, b.1863); Charles E. (b.1864); Alvin N. (b.1866); Dts. were: Martha J. (b. 1852); Martha E. (b.18S4); Ruth A. (b.1855-d.1927); Rachel E. (b.1868) and an infant (b.& d.1871).
