George W. Mills, son of Morgan and Mary E. Mills, was born February 6, 1854, and departed this life May 8, 1920, aged sixty-six years, three months and two days.
He was united in marriage to Emma J. Archey, February 19, 1874. To this union eight children were born, four boys and four girls. Three daughters, father, mother, twelve brothers and four sisters have gone to welcome him to the better land. He leaves his wife, four sons, one daughter, Mrs. Dora Lovell and Charles M. Mills of Winchester, Arlie C. Mills of Dunkirk, Jesse C. Mills and Roda Mills of Muncie, eleven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, and a host of friends to mourn his loss.
He has suffered with afflictions the greater part of his life, and for the past nineteen months he has suffered untold agony with cancer.  While in his suffering, his faith and trust was in his Saviour unto the end.  With his faith in God he could say, "Oh death! where is thy sting;  Oh grave! where is thy victory!  For I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord the righteous Judge shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but to all them that love His appearing."
Neath our eyes he faded slowly,
Growing day by day more frail,
Bearing sweetly all his suffering,
  Without murmur, moan or wail.

You are sleeping dearest father,
  Where the golden waters flow,
And we know that you are happy,
  In your everlasting home.
The funeral was conducted in the home on South Western Avenue Monday at ten o'clock, and the remains laid to rest in beautiful Woodlawn cemetery, amid the graves of his relatives who were gone before.  Rev. A. M. Addington assisted by Rev. J. Mullen conducted the funeral.  Mrs. Ella Keener hadcharge of the music.

Elisha Mills was born in Brown's Run, Butler county, Ohio, Oct. 3, 1804, and departed this life Feb. 25, 1895, aged 90 years, 4 months and 22 days.
He was married to Eliza Sanford about the year 1824.  To this union was born ten children, seven sons and three daughters, six of whom are still living, four having passed on before.  His wife, Eliza, died Feb. 1854.  He was then married to Hannah Clark.  To this union was born two children, one son and one daughter, the son still living.  He joined the Christian Church in the year 1850, and in 1893 changed his membership to the Friends Church in Farmland.  About four months before his death he experienced a change of heart, and from that time until his death he enjoyed the blessings of religion.  He was often heard to say during the last four months of his life, " I walk with Jesus every day."
He enlisted in Company B., 57th  Ind.  Vol.  Inft., as a drummer, Nov. 1, 1861, under Capt.  McGraw, for the term of three years and served until the 7th day of Aug., 1866, when he was discharged on account of a physical disability at Tullahoma, Tenn.
Four of his sons and two sons-in-law, were killed at Shilo and one son was wounded at Kenesaw Mountains.  Comrade Mills became a member of Moses Herron Post 261, G. A. R., of Farmland about six years ago, and on account of his age and circumstances financially, the comrades made him an honorary member for life without dues.  We believe him to be the oldest G. A. R. member in the state at his death.  One by one the old vets are going across the river.  Soon our enemies will not be bothered with us.
Comrade Mills leaves a wife and seven children and a large circle of friends to mourn their loss.  In the death of Comrade Mills, the wife loses a kind husband, the children a devoted father, the community a good citizen and the Post a faithful member and friend.
Funeral services were held in the M. E. Church at Maxville by Rev. A. M.Addington, assisted by Rev. W. F. Mullen, in the presence of a large congregation of friends and about fourty old soldiers, after which Moses Herron Post 261, G. A. R. took charge of the remains and performed their solemn and impressive ceremonies in honor of their worthy comrade, after which his remains were laid to rest in the old cemetery.
