WINCHESTER - Mary E. Johnson, 84, died Friday in St. Vincent Randolph Hospital.
She retired from Westinghouse in Union City and was a homemaker.
Survivors: her husband of 67 years, Rex Johnson; three daughters, Barbara Johnson, Phyllis Edwards and JoAnn Jinks; two sons, John and Floyd Johnson; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death: a son, Joseph Johnson; three brothers; four sisters; and two grandsons.
Services: 3 p.m. Tuesday, Walker Funeral Home.
Burial: Spartanburg Cemetery, Spartanburg.
Calling: 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, the funeral home.
Memorials: Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 4204, South Bend, Ind. 46634.

          Mrs. Will Johnson, of Lynn, passed away Thursday of last week. Funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at the Christian church at Lynn. Interment in Lynn cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson’s Funeral

          The funeral services of the late Mrs. William Henry Johnson, aged seventy-four, were conducted at ten o’clock Friday morning form the Friends church in Lynn. Rev. Henry Pickett officiated and interment was in the cemetery at Arba. The deceased formerly resided near Buena Vista, and she was a well known Randolph county resident. She passed away at her home in Lynn Tuesday night, following a lingering illness.
          The husband survives.

          Obituary -- Rev. I. V. D. R. Johnson died at his home in Farmland, Ind., Sept. 21, 1904, after a brief illness. He was born in Washington township, Randolph county, Ind., Dec 3, 1843. His father John Johnson, came to this county from North Carolina in 1819 at the age of 7 years and married Miss Phebe Thornburg, a daughter of Joseph and Rachel Thornburg, also natives of North Carolina.
          From the farm where he spent his early life I. V. D. R. Johnson enlisted in the Sixty-ninth Indiana volunteer infantry under Col. Tom Bennett, and served until honorably discharged, at Mobile, Ala., July, 1865. He was wounded at Baker's Creek Mills, Miss., and also fought at Richmond, Ky., Chickasaw Bluff, Arkansas Post, Champion Hills, Jackson, Miss., and many minor engagements. After the war he resumed his work on the farm, and married Martha A., daughter of Ezra and Minerva (Rogers) Vandergriff, of New Jersey, on October 28, 1865. To this union were born eleven children, an infant, deceased; Phebe A., deceased; William G.; who now lives at Dayton; Sara E., wife of Wm. H. Meranda; Amanda M., deceased; Effie, wife of Harvey Guthrie, of Winchester; Elmer and Edna, deceased; Ora S. and John A., farmers in Washington township, and Martha, deceased. Mrs. Martha Johnson died August 22, 1884, a devoted member of the Christian church, and Sept. 12, 1885 Mr. Johnson married Abigail Osborn, who died in January, 1900. In December, 1901, Mr. Johnson was married to Margaret Painter, who survives him.
          Mr. Johnson became a minister of the Christian church in 1871, has had regular work since that time, and has preached more than 1,000 funeral sermons. As a soldier he was brave and fearless, as a christian he was always found at his post of duty. Hospitable to a friend and also a kind husband and father.

        JOHNSON, Hannah, wid/o James H. d. at the res. of a son-in-law, Laban Shockney of Greensfk. Twp. Mar. 28, 1892 ae 74y 1m 12d. She came to R.C. with her parents in 1829 and moved to the old Kemp farm 3 mi. E. of Winch. When 18 or 19 yrs of age she m. James H. Johnson who d. in 1870. They had 8 children, 6 sons and 2 dts.
