George W. Hancock, son of Watson and Elizabeth Hancock, the subject of this biography was born May 2, 1851, and departed this life, January 13, 1918, aged 66 years, 8 months, and 11 days. He married Leona Moistner forty years ago the 14th day of last April who preceded him December 25, 1917. To this
union were born five boys and four girls, two of these died in infancy.
He leaves an aged mother, seven children as follows: These residing in Indiana: Oren Hancock, Huntsville; Elick Hancock, Losantville; Josephine Stump, Muncie; Winfield Hancock, Richmond; Maude Ridgeway, Muncie; Nora Mills, Edmore, Michigan; and Edith Johnson, Losantville; four sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law; twelve grandchildren, three brothers and five sisters, and many other relatives and friends.
Brother Hancock's sickness was of long duration. He suffered severely at times, all of which he bore with great patience. When he saw the end was near, he expressed a willingness to meet the Savior and said he was trusting in a higher power. He spent much of his time in prayer and song.
Brother Hancock was a very industrious man, of sterling honesty and integrity. In confident trust we commit our father, brother, and neighbor and friend to our loving Savior and God to whom we give thanks for his great blessings and mercy. And for a while say, goodbye.
