Thomas Fields, Retired Farmer,
Succumbs At 79
----------
Thomas J. Fields, 79 year-old retired farmer of near Saratoga, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Thursday at the union City hospital. He had been seriously ill following a stroke five days ago.
Mr. Fields was a lifelong resident
of the Deerfield and Saratoga communities. He was born November 14, 1869 and in
1889 was married to Jane Furby, who survives. He was a member of the Saratoga
IOOF lodge for over fifty years.
Surviving in addition to the widow,
are one son, John Fields of Saratoga; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren
and three sisters, Mrs. Francis Rohr of Morley, Mich., Mrs. Emma Sipe of
Saratoga, and Mrs. Esther Ballard of Ridgeville.
Funeral services for Mr. Fields will
be conducted at 2 p.m. (DST) Sunday at the Brooks and Son funeral home in Union
city. With Rev. Milton Persons in charge. Interment will be in the Saratoga
cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Saturday.

Death Calls Mrs. E. Austin Fields

Mrs. Clara Fields, fifty-four, wife
of E. Austin Fields, died at her home one-half mile north of Saratoga Wednesday morning. Mrs. Fields had been an invalid from a form of heart disease with
complications during the last three years.
Besides the husband, she is survived by five children, Merritt Fields, who lives at Indianapolis; Hazel, Noble,
Richard and Lorraine Fields, all of whom live at the family home; her father,
Joseph Lollar, one sister, Mrs. Jesse Sarif, and one brother, Enos Lollar, all
of Saratoga.
Funeral services were conducted at the Saratoga united Brethren church Friday at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Mr. Frantz officiating.
Burial made at the Saratoga cemetery.
