George Booker  was born in Montgomery county, Ohio, June 25, 1822, and departed this life July 28, 1903, aged 82 years, 1 month and 3 days.  He was the oldest son of  John and  Catherine Booker.  He emigrated with his parents to Randolph county, Indiana, about the year 1835, where he spent the remainder of his life.  He was united in marriage with  Eliza Foard, July 26, 1846.  To this union was born four children,  Sylvester,  John,  Sarah  and  Lydia.  Three of them are living.  The wife departed this life in April, 1863.  He was again united in marriage, to  Emily M. Fransher, in 1864.  To this union was born four children, three daughters and one son, of whom only the son is living.  He was again left to mourn the loss of a second wife, June 8, 1898.  But he still battled on, under the care and protection of the youngest son, G. W. Booker, until he was at last called to meet with those who had gone on before.  He was a member of the German Baptist church and held closely to that faith to the end.  He always showed a willing mind and a helping hand to those in need.  He was always straight-forward and upright in all his transactions with his fellow man, and was loved and respected by all who knew him.  He leaves four children, one brother and one sister and many other relatives and friends to mourn his loss.  Funeral services took place at the Hopewell church Thursday afternoon, July 30, conducted by the Rev. N. H. Thornburg, after which the remains were laid to rest.
