Dr. Lowell W. Painter, Randolph county coroner, said that death was due to self-administered poison. Mr Batt's body was found in his parked automobile around 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon by Clarence George. A note was found on the dashboard asking the person who discovered the body to notify Mrs. Batt and funeral directors.
Despondency over ill health was given by relatives as the reason for the suicide.
Survivors include the widow Cora; a brother, William of New Castle; three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Richardson of Modoc, Mrs. Emma Parrish of Muncie, and Mrs. Beth Blum of Michigan.
Friends may call at the Tillson funeral home in Modoc.
