Christopher Baker took land from the Government (S 20, R1 5 E, 20N), (W1/2 SE1/4) on May 17, 1819. Thus, aside from the Peacock-Hill group, his was the second entry where there is reason to believe he began residence at the time of purchase. Nothing is known of this man or his family. There is no record that he was a member of the Jericho Meeting or was even a Friend. After nine years of residence he sold his land to Seth Moffitt. Since there is no record of his further purchases in the neighborhood, it is presumed that he left at that time.
