Prather, J.H. and Frank Newline - Putnam

Greencastle, Ind Dec 24 – Probably the queerest pair of chums in existence live in Putnam County.  They are JH Prather and Frank Newline of Roachdale, who very often get together in public places, simply for the pleasure they get out of attracting attention.  Their combined weight is only 333 pounds but 265 of this belongs to Newlin who is 6’8” high and who wears  No. 13 shoes and whose hands are so large enough to cover them.  He is only 19 years old and, is one of the best natured young men in the county, not withstanding his ability to whip any two ordinary men.  His friend is only 3’8” high but is 30 years old.  He weight just 65 pounds and is a shoemaker by trade.  He confidently expects to be elected recorder of Putnam.   ---transcribed by kbz
