Thomas Zaring, son of Daniel and Sarah Zaring was born in Warren Township, Putnam County, Ind, July 13, 1848. In the year 1849 his parents moved to Washington Township when Thomas was but one year old, where he grew to manhood amid the rugged forests and uncleared farms. Here he spent his entire life. These pioneer days were not without their difficulties. Farms were to be cleared, roads and highways to be mapped out and built and bridges were to span the streams. Thomas Zaring passed from this busy life Wednesday April 16, 1919 at the age of 70 years 9 months and 3 days, from the home and friendly fireside where he had resided for the past 30 years. Upon May 22, 1877, Thomas Zaring was united in marriage to Mary Frances Bohannon. To this union was born four children. Bruce, the eldest child was born June 29, 1878 and died August 30, 1879 at the age of 14 months. Nora May was born Jan 18, 1880. Everett Thomas was born May 3, 1882. Roscoe Daniel was born February 11, 1888. Thomas Zaring was a man of sterling qualities, sound in judgment and ever dependable. He was a kind and generous husband and an ample provider. He was a most indulgent father and was best known and beloved in his own home. His joy and happiness was made complete in the gathering of his dear ones at his home and fireside. The enjoyment and the entertaining of his friends was one of his great delights. His jovial and mirthful disposition drew to him many friends, who were pained and shocked to learn of his death. In his sickness he was a most patient sufferer for more than seven weeks. During all that time he was never heard to murmur or complain. The closing moment of his life were sweet and peaceful. He leaves to mourn his loss a faithful wife and companion and one daughter, Mrs. George Weber of Grove City, O; Dr. ET Zaring of Terre Haute, Ind; R. D. Zaring who lives on the home farm; one grandson, Robert Zaring and two granddaughters, Myrtle and Frances Zaring; also other relatives and a host of friends. = kbz
