Source: Roachdale Times 2/22/1940

William Dudley Young, 32, died at the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis Monday morning following an illness of four weeks. He had been in ill health for several months. Mr. Young was born near here February 25, 1907, a son of Thomas H. and Bess Hartman Young and was married December 24, 1932, to Mabel Smythe, who survives. He was a member of the Barnard Baptist church. Mr. Young graduated from Roachdale high school with the class of 1925 and except for two years in Los Angeles, California, has spent his entire life in this community. He was engaged in farming near here at the time of his last illness. Surviving besides the widow are the parents; two sisters; Mrs. Robert Robbins and Mrs. O. V. Muterspaugh, both of Indianapolis; two brothers, Lanville B. of Kokomo and Glenn Robert of Indianapolis; and two nieces Alice Ann Robbins of Indianapolis and Sara Lea Young of Kokomo. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Barnard Baptist church with burial in Roachdale cemetery. (also a 2nd obit is in the 2/28/1940 paper)   --- thanks so much to Marilyn Walker for her Roachdale Times obit collection.
