YOUNG, Mary Wimmer - Putnam

Mary Wimmer Young, 84, died Thursday at her home in Westminster Village after a sudden illness. Mrs. Young who was born in Bainbridge, graduated from Bainbridge HS. She came to Muncie many years ago. She studied nursing at Indiana University attended Ball State Teachers College (now Ball State University) and Butler University. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was affiliated with the National Genealogy Society, Indiana Historical Society, Ball Memorial Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and DAR-DAC.  She compiled records for publican in the Hoosier of Genealogy and she was an avid gardener. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Ann Hofherr (husband James) St. James, Mo and Elizabeth Jeanne Loose (husband, Jack), Huntsville, Ala; 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her husband, Muncie pediatrician Gerald S. Young died in 1985. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ronald Naylor officiating. Burial will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling will be 1 p.m. today at the church. - kbz
