Brazil, Indiana Dec 15 – Charles Young, aged 44, a farmer of near Butler school house committed suicide some time this morning by blowing his head off with a shot gun. Young lived with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George W. Young a mile north of Butler school house and left home about 7 o’clock this morning to walk to Reelsville. He took a shot gun along saying he might shoot some rabbits along the way. When he failed to return home for dinner a search was made by members of the family and the lifeless body was found lying in the words about ¾ mile northeast of the home. Two of his sisters made the gruesome discovery. Young had place the muzzle of the shot gun in his mouth and discharged the gun with a stick, the load of shot tearing the entire top of his head off. No reason is given for suicide and he left no note to the family. Members of the family said that he had been melancholy for several days and had talked queerly at times. His wife died about 10 years ago and he is survived only by a daughter, Evelyn, the parents and four sisters, Mrs. James Beaman , Mrs. Richard Atkinson, Mrs. Simpson Best and Mrs. Rose Hassler, all of that vicinity. The Putnam County coroner was called to make an investigation and the remains were brought to Miller & Son Funeral parlors and prepared for burial. The funeral will be announced later. -– kbz
