March 9 – Sarah Ann Sinclair Wynant, a well known resident of this city died
yesterday morning at 9 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. TE Stockham,
following a brief illness with erysipelas. She has been in failing health for
some time but her final illness dates back to last Saturday. She was born near
Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana May 17, 1848 and at age 16 she came with
her parents to northern Indiana and settled near San Pierre, where she spent
the greater portion of her life with the exception of a few years spent in
Arkansas and about a year which she spent at the home of her daughter in this
city. She was married to John Wynant on May 21, 1868. To this union, six children
were born, four of whom survive as follows: Everett, of Chicago; Howard of
Memphis; Wilbur of Orlando, Cal; and Mrs. TE Stockham of this city. She also
leaves her invalid husband, who is now in a critical condition and seven
grandchildren. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the ME
Church, Rev. GH Thorpe officiating. Interment will be in Oakland cemetery.
