MARY WOODALL

Source: Roachdale Times newspaper, Roachdale Putnam County INdiana 20 July 1939

The dread Rocky mountain spoted fever, from which only about half of persons ill with it recover, claimed the life of the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Woodall at the Riley hospital for children in Indianapolis Saturday. Private funeral services were held Monday. The child, Mary, age 5, is believed to have contracted the dread disease when she picked ticks from a pet dog. She was taken to the Indianapolis hospital when the usual treatment failed. Mrs. Woodall is the former Lilly Simpson, daughter of Manual Simpson of this place. Mr. and Mrs. Woodall formerly lived here but have been living on a farm in the Clinton Center neighborhood the past few years. Both Mr. and Mrs. Woodall are well known here. A recently discovered treatment for the disease, said to have been successful in a number of other cases, failed to save the child's life.  ---- how sad -- thanks to Marilyn Walker for sharing this little lady's obituary with us.
