William Andrew Wimmer, 97, a former rural Bainbridge and Greencastle resident, passed away Monday at Ladoga Nursing Home. Born July 19, 1883, he was the son of William P. and Elizabeth (Farrow) Wimmer. He married Nellie May Carver in 1906 and she preceded him in death in 1911. In 1917, he married Pearl Newgent, who passed away in 1948. Mr. Wimmer was a Monroe Township farmer and was also an electrician. He was instrumental in rebuilding the telephone switchboard after the Coatesville tornado. He taught Sunday School at the Bainbridge Methodist Church where he was an active member until his health failed. He was also a member of the Bainbridge Masonic Lodge over 50 years. Survivors include three daughters, Louise Carter, Indianapolis, Mary Young, Muncie, Helen Rupert, Chicago; two grandsons, William Hatfield, Booneville and John Rupert, Cloverdale; two granddaughters, Patricia Ann and Elizabeth; two great grandsons Wyeth and Thomas Hatfield; and a great granddaughter, Melissa Hatfield. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle with interment in Brick Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday. Masonic rites will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. – kbz
